A different kind of wait...

Now my story is in the hands of those who understand publishing a lot better than I do.  It's no longer about punctuation and dangling participles, but formatting. By far the hardest thing I've had to do. And with my bad timing, submitting book one early in the wee hours of December 31st,  Createspace is closed until Monday. Another wait. And yes, I said book one, because at nearly 700 pages, (it is an Epic Fantasy afterall) the story had to be split in two. Disasters aside, book two will be very short in coming. Now the small part of getting someone to read it....

Endings are just the Beginning...

The edit is done, the story is told, only two more maps (no small task) and this thing is ready to go. It is like climbing a mountain.  Once you reach the summit you look around and find the height dizzying; the winds blow,  the clouds lower,  but the effort is worthwhile. Questions remain. What is next?  Formatting, publishing, finding an audience.  Like that mountain, the effort will be worth it if someone enjoys the story....the biggest fear of all.

Fantasy is best when it feels real....

"Armond   scaled   a   large   stone   trying   in   vain   to   close   in   on   the   source   of   the   blaze,   but   his   advance   fell   back   at   the   sound   of   wings.   The   fire   suddenly   rose   into   the   cloud   supported   by   a   large   shadowy   form.   Then   it   fell   forward   with   speed,   lunging   towards   the   others..."

Seeing the light......

The end is near!!!  OK, that was overdramatic.  But as far as Passage of the Acolyte is concerned, I've got 130 pages left to edit, then time to publish. (that's after I complete another map or two)  The plan is moving forward, and barring any procedural or formatting issues, this sucker will be available to purchase in early 2011.

Patience is a virtue of writing...better be

Publishers and agents have their own time tables, and it sure isn't on my schedule.  In the waiting game of responses I've completed another round revisions.  Book two had been started earlier, and I will soon delve into it again, if it wasn't for those one or two nagging maps I need to finish. Labeling these is the hardest part...unless I take up very tiny calligraphy. Carry on....
